Is it The Shoes? – November 26, 2012 Recap

Monday was a historic for New York and the NBA as the Brooklyn Nets hosted the New York Knicks in the inaugural battle of the boroughs. As you may expect on such a night, the crowd was comprised of die hard Knicks fans, day 1 Nets fans, as well as various stars like the Nets co-owner Jay-Z, former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, and the always beautiful Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. And, if the energy wasn’t already at a ridiculous level with everything mentioned previously, the game couldn’t be decided in regulation and it took one overtime period for the Nets to grab the all important win over the Knicks. Now, while the Knicks vs. Nets game wasn’t the only game played last night, as you will see below, it was the most anticipated and most exciting.
In addition to great basketball Monday it was also a great night for PE watching as we seen players like Rudy Gay don his ever so popular iridescent Nike Air Max Hyperposite PE, Greivis Vasquez lace up the usual but always nice Under Armour Micro G Bloodline PE, and Nets co-owner Jay-Z rock the recently re-released “Bred” Air Jordan 4 Retro.
The #IITS series was created out of the love for basketball and PEs and while Jay-Z doesn’t hoop professionally nor is he wearing any PEs I felt it was only right to included him into todays edition. Now, Mr. Carter may not be on the Nets roster but he does in fact ball and had one major assist for the Nets as he is partly responsible for bringing them to Brooklyn. And as the Nets hosted the Knicks Monday, Jay-Z attended the game in his go to camo pants, Brooklyn hat, and the recently re-released “Bred” Air Jordan 4 Retro.
As mentioned above, the Nets beat the Knicks in OT 96-89. The Nets Joe Johnson chose to lace up the “Stealth” Air Jordan 10 Retro Monday and ended up putting up 8 pts – 4 rbs – 3 ast.
While the Knicks lost to the Nets Monday there was one highlight, among many, as Rasheed Wallace finally broke out a new Nike Air Force 1 High PE. While his footwear was nice his stat line wasn’t as Wallace recored 6 pts – 8 rbs – 1 ast.
Now I have personally been waiting to included these Rudy Gay Nike Air Max Hyperposite PEs in an edition #IITS but finding a decent photo of them is not the easiest thing to do, as you may be able to tell. However, I felt this was good enough and you can rest assured I will include them in every #IITS entry I can. Now that I got that out of the way I can let you know that in addition to Rudy Gay wearing my favorite Hyperposite PE of the young year he put up 15 pts – 6 rbs – 3 ast in the Memphis Grizzlies 10th win of season as they topped the Cleveland Cavaliers 84-78.
The New Orleans Hornets’ Greivis Vasquez took to the court on Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers in his usual Under Armour Micro G Bloodline PEs and contributed 25 pts – 6 rbs – 10 ast to the Hornets 105-98 win over the Clippers.
Manu Ginobili has grown quite fond of the Nike LeBron 9 this year as he donned a blue/blue-yellow NIKEiD version this past summer in the 2012 London Olympics and has been lacing up the “Freegums” version most this NBA season. While his stat line of 12 pts – 5 rbs – 5 ast wasn’t jaw dropping he did play a part in helping the San Antonio Spurs beat the Washington Wizards 118-92 on Monday.
While I am not a fan of players wearing shoes that do not match their jerseys I could never be mad at anyone wearing the Nike Zoom KD IV “N7″ as they represent something important and are a phenomenal looking sneaker. While Jordan Crawford’s footwear selection on Monday was great his play was average as he recorded 19 pts – 4 rbs – 2 ast in the Washington Wizards 118-92 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
