An ornithopter (from Greek ornithos “bird” and pteron “wing”) is an aircraft that flies by flapping its wings. Designers seek to imitate the flapping-wing flight of birds, bats, and insects. Though machines may differ in form, they are usually built on the same scale as these flying creatures.
Launching their debut collaborative AW15 collection in August and September 2015 in selected worldwide stockists, SWASH x Puma sees the SWASH team inject their uncommon skills as both artists and designers into iconic Puma styles. The blending of premium prints and handcrafted designs with classic Puma styles and cutting edge tech perfectly represents both brands unique DNA, creating a refreshing and individual collection. Below is just a teaser of the entire collection.
Notice SWASH London’s signature print. Both styles are decked in bright, bold leather and mesh upper with the piece de resistance being the hand-drawn and painted illustration on the mesh material. Dubbed ORNITHOPTER SUNSET or OS, the original print is inspired by the idea of a great escape in an amazing flying machine, influenced by Otto Lilienthal’s early gliders. The collection teases the fashion and sneaker scene, setting the tone for the exciting up and coming PUMA and SWASH London full design collection.
The two styles previewed today will be releasing through select global PUMA lifestyle stores starting July 17th. The rest of the collection will begin hitting retail August 1st.
